La clase de español

¡Bienvenidos! Me llamo Señora Mariscal-Bristow y espero que este año de español sea fantástico.

Welcome students!  I am so happy to have you in class and am looking forward to an exciting and productive year.

Spanish at THS is a mixture of speaking activities, projects, reading, writing, and oral presentations.  These components will prepare you for true communication of the Spanish language in class, the real world of work,  travel and higher education.

Attitude is a big thing that makes a big difference.  Please come to class with a positive one. Here are some critical rules to help you be successful:

  1. Arrive on time and be in your seat before the tardy bell rings. Please take care of bathroom, water breaks and/or personal business between classes.
  2. Be prepared. Come to class every day with a three-ring binder which includes 5 divider tabs, No. 2 pencils, eraser, colored pencils, and textbook.
  3. RESPECT each other at all times.  Inappropriate language and belittling will not be tolerated. You are important to me and your classmates so be supportive.
  4. Speak in Spanish every day.  Listen carefully with your ears and eyes. Speak to the best of your ability.
  5. Make up work.  You are allowed the same number of days you missed to make it up. This is in accordance with school policy.  See me before class or after class for your work.
  6. Do not bring food or drinks to class. (We will feast together during celebrations.)
  7. Texting and personal use of cell phone is not permitted in class.  Phones must be off and placed on my desk upon entering the classroom and before the tardy bell rings.  Any phone disruptions will result in disciplinary action.

Remember, learning a foreign language can be fun, but requires work and discipline.  We will make plenty of mistakes and corrections AND it will be ok. Don’t worry about them, just do your best. The reward of your hard work comes when you meet a spanish-speaking person and can communicate in their language.  Your effort will determine your success.  If you ever have any questions, concerns or want extra help just let me know.

Please read this with your parent, sign below and return to me. Thank you.

I have read this plan and understand my responsibilities.
