La clase de español

¡Bienvenidos! Me llamo Señora Mariscal-Bristow y espero que este año de español será fantástico.

Welcome students!  I am so happy to have you in class and am looking forward to an exciting and productive year.

We'll speak Spanish every day. Yay! We'll explore Spanish speaking countries and learn about their traditions, music, art and food through projects, oral presentations, reading, writing and group work. These activities will help develop a good understanding of the language and culture, so prepare  to learn, have fun and practice, practice, practice.

Attitude is a big thing that makes a big difference.  Come to class with a positive one. Here are some critical rules to help you be successful:

  1. Arrive on time and be in your seat before the tardy bell rings. Please take care of bathroom, water breaks and/or personal business between classes.
  2. Be prepared. Come to class every day with a three-ring binder which includes 5 divider tabs, No. 2 pencils, eraser, colored pencils, and textbook.
  3. RESPECT each other at all times.  Inappropriate language and belittling will not be tolerated. You are important to me and your classmates so be supportive.
  4. Speak in Spanish every day.  Listen carefully with your ears and eyes. Speak to the best of your ability.
  5. Make up work.  Please see me before class for make-up work when you have been absent. You are allowed the same number of days you missed to make it up.  Be responsible so you don't fall behind.
  6. Do not bring food or drinks to class. (We will feast together during celebrations.)
  7. Texting and personal use of cell phone is not permitted in class. Turn phone off and place on my desk upon entering the class. We may incorporate some lessons that require cell phone use, but I will let you know. Any phone disruption will be reported to the office.

Remember, learning a foreign language can be fun, but requires work and discipline.  Don’t worry about making mistakes, just do your best. The reward of your hard work comes when you meet a spanish-speaking person and can communicate in their language.  Your effort will determine your success.  If you ever have any questions, concerns or want extra help just let me know.

Please read this with your parent, sign below and return to me. Thank you.

I have read this plan and understand my responsibilities.
