Curriculum Map Spanish II

Course: Spanish II   Month: August

State Standards(OAS):

Unit Targets: Students will be able to: 

Listen and read about classes and classroom rules.

Talk and write about classroom activities and schedules.

Exchange information about what you do in class.

Review regular present tense verbs.

Learn rules for conjugation of stem changing verbs.

Assessments:    Weekly vocabulary spelling and definition tests,  Speaking activities for pronunciation and comprehension

Writing assignments for spelling and grammar. 

Unit Questions:  Questions will pertain to information learned in class about classroom activities.

Materials Required: Textbook, binder, pencil, Poster board and colored pencils

Lessons are subject to change depending on classroom progress. 

 


Spanish II                               September

Exchange information about what you do in class

Assessments:  Speaking activities. Vocabulary tests – spelling and definition. Writing assignments for spelling and grammar.  Reading for comprehension.

Unit questions:  What do you have to do in your classes?  What are your afterschool activities?  Which classes are your favorites, describe them?  What are classroom rules?

Materials Required:  Spanish II Textbook, binder, pencil poster and colored pencils

Cultural activities:  Learn spanish dance styles through zumba and music

Lessons are subject to change depending on class progress.

 

Spanish II  – October

State Standards:

Unit Targets:  Talk about extracurricular activities in school and after school.

Exchange information about after school extracurricular activities

Talk about people, places and things of familiarity.

Give information about familiar things, people and places

Assessments:  Speaking activities. Vocabulary tests.  Reading for comprehension and answer questions in Spanish.

Cultural activities:  Day of the Dead – Learn vocabulary to discuss this holiday and its importance in the Spanish-speaking culture. 

Unit questions:  How is Day of the Dead celebrated?  Who do you know?  What do you know about them?

Spanish II – November

State Standards (OAS)

Unit Targets:  Verbs: conocer and saber – to know; ir – to go

 Verb conjugation in present tense.

Chapter 1B – continued.  Students will talk about afterschool activities

Chapter 2  Special events

Unit Targets:  Listen and read about daily activities

Talk about daily routines and getting ready for a special event.

Exchange information about typical morning routines.

Learn clothing vocabulary

Assessments:  Speaking activities, Vocabulary tests. Verb conjugation of reflexive verbs in present tense.

Unit questions:  What is your morning routine?  How do you prepare for a special event?  What would you wear to a special event?

Required materials:  Textbook, spanish binder

Chapter 1B – Making comparisons

Unit targets:  Making comparisons/superlatives

Compare school activities.

Talk about how long it has been since something has happened.

Chapter 2 – Special events

Learn The Body vocabulary

Talk about clothing for the body during seasons. 

Assessments:  Speaking activities, Vocabulary tests. Reflexive verb review

Unit questions:  Que llevas cuando hace frio?  Cual estacion es?  Que llevas cuando hace calor?  Que es la temperatura?

Required materials:  Textbook, spanish binder.

 

JANUARY

Chapter 2 – Reflexive verbs and daily routines

Unit targets: Verbs: reflexive, ser – to be; Estar – to be

Communication: listen and read about daily routines

Talk abou daily routines and getting ready for a special event

Exchange information about typical routines.

Assessments:  Speaking activities about preparing for events, vocabulary tests, writing assignments

Unit questions:  Como te preparas para un evento especial?  Adonde vas? Como te vistes?

Required materials:  Spanish textbook, spanish binder

Chapter 3 – My community

Unit targets:  Past tense verbs

Communication:  Listen and talk about obligations and what you bought in the past.

                         Exchange information about certain things you had to do

                         Talk about giving directions and driving

                         Exchange information about how to get to places near school.

Assessments:  Speaking activities, writing and reading activities, vocabulary tests, writing assignments

Unit questions:  What did you do yesterday?  What type of stores and services are thee in your community?

                        How do you arrive at……?

Required materials:  Spanish textbook,spanish binder
