Melissa Ferguson graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in May of 1995. The first ten years of her educational career were in her hometown of Wright City, Oklahoma. While there she served as a teacher assistant, alternative education director, and third grade teacher. Ministry eventually brought her and her family to Tishomingo. She soon began teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at Tishomingo Schools.
While teaching, Melissa began working on a Master of Education degree in School Administration at SOSU. She graduated with that degree in July of 2011. A couple of years later, she was given the opportunity to be an assistant principal at Lone Grove Primary School. She helped lead and serve the teachers, staff, and students at Lone Grove for two years, before returning to the amazing community of Tishomingo. Mrs. Ferguson serves her staff and students with a whole heart, leaning upon her 15 years of classroom experience, as well as her 5 years of leadership and administrative experience.
Melissa is married to her husband, Robert, who teaches and coaches at Marietta Schools. They are blessed with three sons, two daughters-in-law, and two amazing grandsons. With her growing family, school family, and church family, Melissa stays very busy and engaged year round! Sacred spare moments will find her traveling and exploring our great nation.
Melissa counts it an honor and privilege to serve the students and staff of Tishomingo Elementary and is thrilled to answer the call of leadership in education. It is GREAT to be a Tishomingo Indian where she is a part of the most amazing elementary school in Oklahoma where they "achieve the extraordinary together!"
