About Shelena Thomas

This is my seventh year teaching at THS.  I currently teach biology, chemistry & zoology and coach a FIRST Robotics team.  I received an Associate in Chemistry/Physics from Murray State College; a Bachelor of Science in biotechnology as well as a Master of Technology in biotechnology from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.  I LOVE science and especially have a passion for research and exposing students to STEM related fields such as engineering.

I have been married to Damian Thomas for 21 years.  We met in Japan while both serving in the United States Marine Corps.  We have two amazing daughters: Kailee, 21 and Whitney, 13 and a “third child” our beagle/bassett/hound mix Levi.

I am a firm but fair teacher.  I strongly believe my purpose as an educator is to prepare my students for the next stage of their lives, college.  I feel that with a good educational foundation and study habits students will be better prepared to be successful in their future endeavors.  Although not all students will pursue a career in a science related field, my hopes are that all will atleast learn that they CAN DO SCIENCE!
